Terms of Service

This is a starting template. Review it — ideally with a professional — and fill in the operator name and governing law before opening the service to the public.

These terms govern your use of Kotonoto (“the Service”), operated by [operator name]. By creating an account you agree to them.

What Kotonoto is

Kotonoto is an augmented notebook for people already learning a language. It is a study aid, not a course or a substitute for professional instruction. Dictionary facts come from open lexical resources; the AI layer only rephrases them and writes examples, and it can be wrong.

Your account

  • You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for activity under your account.
  • Provide a real email address so account recovery works.
  • One account per person. Do not share credentials.

Acceptable use

  • Do not use the Service to store or generate unlawful content, or to infringe others’ rights.
  • Do not attempt to bypass the AI usage quota, overload the service, or probe it for vulnerabilities without permission.
  • Automated bulk access is not permitted without the operator’s agreement.

Content and data

You keep ownership of the notes and vocabulary you create. You grant the operator only the permissions needed to store and display your content back to you and to operate the Service. You can export or delete your data at any time from Settings.

Vocabulary exports and any redistributed dictionary-derived data remain under the source licenses (see Data attributions).

Availability and changes

The Service is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. It may change, be interrupted, or be discontinued. A free tier is offered with a capped monthly AI quota; paid plans may be introduced later with their own terms.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of data beyond what a reasonable backup on your side would have prevented. Export your important content.

Termination

You may delete your account at any time. The operator may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction].
